Chicken dishes as a main ingredient are present in all kitchens around the world. Chicken is undoubtedly one of the most consumed birds in the world and is cooked more often every day at any point on the planet. Of all meats, it is the most consumed, not only because of its flavor and versatility when it is prepared, but also because it is very easy to find the chicken recipe (in spanish: receta de pollo) adapted to your level. From easy to prepare chicken recipes (recetas de pollo fáciles), suitable for beginners, to delicious and complicated chicken recipes (recetas de pollo deliciosas y complicadas), only accessible to those chefs who already have some skill in the kitchen, this ingredient is one of the most appreciated and with which you will undoubtedly be able to show off if you want to please all your guests.

Recipes for everybody 

The only people who don't like chicken are vegans and vegetarians.

From the chicken filet you get low-fat diet dishes, which are useful for children and athletes, fried and battered lovers will enjoy homemade fast food in the form of crunchy chicken nuggets, wings and fried chicken; baked and accompanied by potatoes the whole family likes, and from the thigh you can cook a delicious broth, which feels great for colds. Chicken recipes do not fit in the pages of the biggest cookbook, they are so varied that chicken dishes can be prepared every day, without fear that the taste of the bird will become boring. 

In a globalized world nobody is surprised anymore by dishes like chicken curry or chicken with almonds. But there are still chicken dishes that can be somewhat exotic, or that we have yet to explore. Juicy tobacco chicken glorified Georgian (ex-USSR) cuisine no less than Satsivi and Phali, chicken with apples in Northern European cuisine is baked as often as turkey in the United States, and in Russia the filling of finely chopped chicken pancakes in cream sauce has become almost a classic. Russian chefs never wonder what to cook with chicken: they know by heart hundreds of variations of cooking chicken with potatoes, mushrooms, buckwheat or in its own juice. In China, Mexico or Egypt, chicken is also an essential ingredient in most of their most internationally recognized dishes.

The baked chicken with French fries, which are baked with this, to be impregnated with its juice, and which has been marinated with lemon and spices, is a success for any family celebration. Accompanied by mayonnaise, it is a flavor that takes us back to childhood and divides diners between those who enjoy eating the tasty crispy crust and those who prefer not to.

Chicken meat, a good choice

You can cook chicken in any way, during the heat treatment, the meat softens and absorbs the odors and flavors of other products, hence its great versatility, although it is important to choose quality poultry, if possible poultry. The ready-made chicken can be served cold or hot. After cooling, its flavor hardly changes and, at low temperatures, chicken dishes keep freshness for a long time. 

The great cooks and chefs of the world have shared many recipes for cooking chicken, from the simplest, although equally delicious, to recipes that are very exotic for Western palates, with avocados, kiwi and pineapple. The combinations of food with chicken are absolutely infinite.

In addition, chicken is a cheap meat that provides us with many nutrients, which is important when we want to keep the family budget or the student economy at bay. Apart from that, it's very easy to take advantage of chicken leftovers. With the bones it is always possible to make good broths, and with the remains of the roast it is possible to prepare a tasty croquette, the secret will be in knowing how to find the recipe for the best bechamel, and the optimal batter. In this way we find that chicken is one of the most profitable meats on the market.

Another reason to choose chicken is because it is white meat. In 2015, the WHO published a report describing how the use of processed red meat can lead to the formation of malignant tumors. With unprocessed red meat, not everything is so clear, therefore, the WHO classifies it as a "potentially carcinogenic" product, since there is still no clear data. Even so, it is recommended not to eat more than 70 grams of red and processed meat per day. For white meat, i.e., poultry, there are no recommendations yet, but it might be a good idea to replace red meat (beef, pork and lamb) with chicken or turkey. Of course, the wide range of recipes that can be found for cooking such meat, allow you to provide your weekly menu with great diversity, and escape from boredom.

If you are not good at the kitchen… Try to cook chicken

Cooking good chicken meat badly is almost as difficult as having cactus die, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. That's why it's important that if you decide to learn to cook, you choose chicken recipes, but listen to us, at least in the beginning, leave the creativity for when you have some more experience, and try to follow the recipe to the letter. Once you have acquired the necessary skill and confidence it will be the moment to start experimenting, since you will have cooked enough recipes mixing chicken with different ingredients and spices, and trying different types of cooking to know what can work, and what can't. Besides, you will know better your tastes and those of the people you are going to cook for. It is also true that without risk there is no glory, and that many times the best discoveries come from the archaic trial-error.

Be that as it may, whether you want to show off for your friends or family, or if you are satisfied with making a decent nutritional living, chicken is the ingredient that cannot be missing from your kitchen, and it is up to you to find the recipes and complements that will extract from it all the potential that the kitchens of the world have known how to appreciate and take advantage of.
