All social networks are not created equally. While Instagram can be an endless source for one brand, it will do nothing for another, and while one company may have tons of commitment on Facebook, another company will gain more traction on LinkedIn.

With that in mind, how do you choose where to spend your time (and potentially invest in advertising)?

The best move is to have at least one presence on each of the major platforms and then strategically choose which ones to double up on.

Let's take a look at each of the seven major social networking platforms in our social media guide: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest and Reddit.

You'll also learn what content is successful on each platform and get practical tips for taking your own social media marketing to the next level.

Before we dive in, let's take a look at each of these networks.
