Keep Your Body Fueled with Long Workouts

For everyone except the full couch potato, a long workout would be a workout. It has a very great potential to deplete your body's carbohydrate stores almost completely, which in most cases is around 2+ hours;

  • A workout that may not be as long as 2 hours, but one that is incredibly physically demanding for at least more than an hour, such as a hard day at the gym making the most difficult workout ever invented
  • Any physical effort that simply leaves the feeling of having done something totally epic (and yes, "totally epic" is an acceptable and peer-reviewed term in the scientific literature ... I think).

Ditto for sports drinks

Whenever you go away for a long time, and especially for more than 3 hours, higher blood levels of amino acids will prevent you from cannibalizing the muscles and will also reduce your evaluation of the perceived effort. GU Roctane is an example of a gel containing amino acids, Carbo Pro now contains a sports drink containing amino acids, and other drinks containing protein include Infinite, Perpetuum and First Endurance.

During the cycling part of an Ironman triathlon, I take 350-450 calories per hour. Ironman legend Mark Allen was able to train his gut to absorb up to 600 calories per hour. So while avoiding the intake of bulky carbohydrates during certain workouts can have benefits, it's the last thing you want to do in a day that will last almost two hours.

Another amino acid tip, which I will discuss in detail in another article, is to consume some sort of amino acid capsule or powder before you even get started in the exercise routine. Of course, a piece of chicken contains amino acids, but it will take a long time. Longer to digest than a supplement of amino acids (like MAP, for example), which you can pop just before leaving for your long workout.

If your doctor has prescribed growth hormones for you, you already know the answers to the questions above. But it is better that you also do your research, just to make sure that you and your doctor are fully informed.

There are many different online pharmacies that you can choose from that will deliver your prescription directly to your home. You will also need answers to several questions before choosing a pharmacy. You will want to know the manufacturer of the hormone, where the company obtains it, that is, from a distributor or directly from the manufacturer of the drug. You will also want prescription periods, order deadlines, and if the company takes out your health insurance.
